‘Aparajito’, Actors Jeetu Kamal, Paoli Dam, Anumol, Gul Panag among top honours at Diorama

‘Aparajito’ (Bengali), directed by Anik Dutta has won the Golden Sparrow Award at the fourth Diorama International Film Festival in New Delhi. Actor Jeetu Kamal who played the role of Satyajit Ray also wins the Golden Sparrow in the Best Actor category while the Golden Sparrow is shared by Paoli Dam for the film ‘Chhaad’ (The Terrace) and Anumol K. Manoharan for the Sanskrit language film ‘Taya’. ‘Everybody wants to be loved’ (German) directed by Katharina Woll wins the Golden Sparrow for the Best International Feature Film.


The Silver Sparrow for the Best International Feature Film has been presented to a Croatian Film ‘High on Life’ directed by Radislav Jovanov Gonzo while ‘The Sleeping Negro’ (USA) directed by Skinner Myers get the Soecial Jury award. Supratim Bhol wins the Golden Sparrow Award for Best Cinematography for the film ‘Aparajito’, Anup Kumar Mukhopadhyay for Best Sound for the film ‘Chhaad’ (Bengali) and Jhulan Krishna Mahanta for Best editing for the film ‘Bakul Phulor Dore’ (The Blooming Bakul-Assamese).


The Audience Choice Award for the Best Short Film have been presented to Gul Panag’s Short Film ‘Manoranjan’ directed by Suhail Tatari while the Documentary Film ‘Summer, City and a Camera’ directed by Anas Zawahiri. The Special jury Award in The Indian feature film category is shared by Child Actor Athish Shetty for the Kannada film ‘Cake’ and Actress Archana K for the Telugu film ‘Who will marry Thomas’?


The Diorama Film Bazaar honours for the Most viable Film Project are presented to five film projects ‘The Delhi Network’ by Abhishek Prasad, ‘Hug me if you are against war’ by Upasana Bannerjee, ‘Low Tide’ by Igor Virabov, ‘Borewell Byrappa’ by K Jayadev and ‘Dil Beparwah’ by Mansi Agrawal.


The Diorama Film Bazaar Film projects were mentored by Elliot Grove (Founder, President Raindance Film Festival & Screenwriter - UK), Stare Yildirim (Producer- Turkey), Laryssa Gutarevich, Producer (Ukraine), Utpal Acharya, CEO, Content Engineers, Mumbai, legendary Film Director Vinod Pande, Distribution Expert Girish Wankhede and International Award-winning Film Producer Sanjay Gulati.


The Diorama Story Market, a new initiative at the festival to connect Literary and Film communities was a huge success with over 150 stories waiting to be transformed into films.

Talking about Diorama Film Bazaar, Kunal Srivastava, Director, said, “It is gratifying to note that we have been able to create a bridge between the literary and film communities and in the years to come, we shall strengthen it with more international participation.


The five day long Festival screened over 50 films and presented several Workshops, Coffee Table Sessions, Interviews and Panel Discussions with some of the big names from film industries of the world.
