Bombairiya premieres at the Diorama film festival

The opening ceremony of the first edition of Diorama International Film Festival, which was organised at Siri Fort, on Monday, was charged with moments of gratitude, with the organisers thanking filmmakers and actors for gracing the occasion.

Randhir Kapoor was the chief guest at the event and was introduced at the festival as Raj Kapoor's son and grandfather of 'country's social media sensation'- Taimur. He said, "On behalf of all the Kapoors, who are not here today, I congratulate the organisers of the film festival."

We got the endorsement of the law community: Bombairiya director

After the inauguration, upcoming film 'Bombairiya' was screened at the film festival. It was the second screening of the film in Delhi. Before this, last week, the film was screened for senior advocates of the Supreme Court in the capital.

Talking about the screening, Pia Sukanya, director of Bombairiya said, "We feel honoured that our film has been chosen as the opening film of this festival. Last week, a private screening was hosted by Pinky Anand, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) for advocates. We got the endorsement of the law community which was really important for us because of the issue that the film is addressing - witness protection. Also, they enjoyed the film immensely. They were laughing and found it entertaining. They really got the film.”

Talking about the festival, she said, "I am glad that Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor are here today for the inauguration of the festival where my film is being screened. While growing up I was obsessed with Raj Kapoor. I was a huge fan of Nargis, Madhubala, Raj Kapoor, Guru Dutt. Imagine a four-year-old watching a Guru Dutt film! Those films have influenced me a lot."

I go to film festivals to watch movies: While 'Bombairiya's lead actor Radhika Apte missed the screening at the film festival, but the supporting cast of 'Bombairiya'- Shilpa Shukla, Siddhanth Kapoor, and Akshay Oberoi were present.

Shilpa Shukla told us, ”The first film festival that I attended was IFFI. I was a student of Miranda House (2002), and IFFI used to be organised in Delhi at that time. I watched a few films at IFFI, and those films introduced me to world cinema. I'm still very much festival circuit person, and I enjoy going to film festivals to watch movies."
